Musical highlights include: winning second place in the 2022 Worshipful Company of Musicians Brass Ensemble Prize; receiving a commission from the Sainsbury family to arrange and record “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” for their 50th wedding anniversary; appearing at the 2024 Students Create festival with their pioneering “Young Person’s Guide to the Brass Septet” featuring a dazzling bespoke arrangement of Prokofiev’s beloved “Peter and the Wolf”; and putting on Smith Square Hall’s best selling concert of their 23/24 lunchtime series. More recent concerts have seen Berkeley Brass perform for the Intermezzo 2025 Lunchtime Series, St Peter’s Church Acton, London’s Regent Hall and The Spire Church in Farnham.
The group is dedicated to expanding the septet repertoire through bespoke arrangements, with the further option to expand in size to perform as a dectet or full-size symphonic brass.

Join us for a magical family concert featuring Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Olivier Award-winning actress Samantha Spiro.
Composed by Sergei Prokofiev, Peter and the Wolf is one of the most beloved introductions to orchestral music ever written. Hear the story of Peter and the Wolf as each character is brought to life through the sounds of the Brass Septet — from the chirping bird and graceful duck to the sly cat, the gruff grandfather, the hunters, and of course, the fearsome wolf.
Come and meet Peter and his animal friends, and discover how music can tell a story without a single costume or set. With Samantha Spiro’s captivating narration guiding the adventure, this promises to be a wonderful introduction to live classical music for children and families alike.
Berkeley Brass perform their pioneering “Young Person’s Guide to the Brass Septet”, featuring a dazzling bespoke arrangement of Prokofiev’s beloved Peter and the Wolf, which they premiered at the 2024 Students Create Festival and performed recently at Smith Square Hall, the best-selling concert of their 23/24 lunchtime series.
At the end of the performance, young audience members will have the exciting opportunity to come up close to the instruments and even try them for themselves — a perfect first step into the world of music-making!
