About

“The Chiswick Brass Festival exists to celebrate and promote brass music in all its forms. We create opportunities for world-class performances, inspiring workshops, and community outreach that bring people together through music. Alongside the annual festival, we support young musicians with education and performance opportunities, ensuring the next generation has the chance to learn, play, and thrive.”

  • Side-by-Side

Side-by-side brass workshops bringing young musicians together with professional orchestral players for a day of inspiring music-making. Students receive hands-on coaching in sectionals and rehearse shoulder-to-shoulder with the professional orchestral musicians. Experience culminating in an uplifting evening concert where each section showcases their work and the full ensemble performs together, celebrating the joy, energy, and community of live music.

  • Outreach

We run inspiring brass workshops in schools across London, bringing live music to children who might not otherwise experience it. Through interactive games, storytelling, and hands-on music-making, we make brass playing fun, accessible, and confidence-building for underprivileged communities.

  • Performance

The Chiswick Brass Festival delivers the highest level of performance, bringing together a wide variety ensembles. Alongside established artists, the festival proudly supports emerging ensembles, offering audiences a plethora of styles and traditions.

Who we are

We are passionate musicians with a vision to inspire the next generation of brass players. As graduates with a deep love for brass music, our mission is to encourage children, amateur musicians, and aspiring professionals to explore the joy of playing brass instruments. Through outreach, masterclasses, workshops, performances and competitions we aim to ignite a lifelong passion for music.

Meet the Artistic Director

Tom Torley is a tuba player, organist, and musical director with a passion for Brass music. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Tom has played at the BBC Proms, Symphony Hall Birmingham and was soloist for both the Gregson and Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto’s. He has at various times in the past been a member of the NYBBGB, NYWO and the National Youth orchestra.

He also loves cooking and plays with West London’s favourite tag rugby team, the ‘Acton Aardvarks’, who he was recently signed to. However, questions surrounding the salary cap continue to cast a shadow over the team’s reputation.
