Mila Jacqueline Ferramosca is a violinist, entrepreneur, and arts leader dedicated to curating innovative musical initiatives and supporting artistic growth. As Executive Director of the Chiswick Brass Festival, she oversees the festival’s operations, strategic development, programming, and partnerships, bringing together top-tier musicians and engaging audiences through dynamic performances. A graduate of the Royal College of Music (BMus Hons & MPerf), Mila studied as a scholar at both the RCM and its Junior Department, where she trained under some of the UK’s leading violinists. She has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader in Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, the Sheldonian Theatre, and the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room. She has won numerous awards, including GDST Young Musician of the Year, the Abingdon Concerto Competition, and multiple RCM prizes, such as the RCM Chamber Music Prize, the Constance Farrington Prize, and the Freda Dinn & Ida Mabbett String Prize. Her talent and dedication have led her to study in masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians, including Ivry Gitlis, Tasmin Little, and Alina Ibragimova.
Mila has held leadership positions in some of the UK’s top ensembles, performing under conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Antonio Pappano, and John Wilson. She has served as leader of Southbank Sinfonia, the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Thames Vale Youth Orchestra, and the Oxford Concerto Orchestra. As a concerto soloist, she has most recently performed Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 in the Sheldonian Theatre with Southbank Sinfonia, and Bartok’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with Abingdon Symphony Orchestra.
A passionate chamber musician, Mila is a founding member of the Bodman String Quartet, which has performed across the UK at venues including LSO St Luke’s, Knighton Concert Society, Lower Machen Music, and Cardiff University. The quartet is known for its wide-ranging repertoire, including contemporary premieres, and its performances have been featured in live broadcasts, earning praise for their dynamism and expressive interpretation.
Beyond her performance career, Mila has been deeply involved in music education and outreach for over a decade. She has given a masterclass at King’s College School, London, and currently teaches at Downe House, and maintains a thriving private teaching studio with students ranging from beginners to post-diploma level. Her students have gone on to win competitions and gain places at prestigious conservatoires and youth orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO), National Children’s Orchestra (NCO), and conservatoire Junior Departments. She has worked in outreach programmes with Southbank Sinfonia, the National Youth Orchestra Inspire programme, the RCM Sparks initiative, and Marlborough College, delivering workshops and coaching young musicians across the UK.
