Auditions for Public Masterclass with Lee Tsarmaklis at Chiswick Brass Festival 2025

 

We are excited to announce audition opportunities for musicians to perform in the Public Masterclass led by Lee Tsarmaklis, Principal Tuba of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, at the upcoming Chiswick Brass Festival on 22 February 2025. This is a unique chance to receive personalized coaching from a distinguished professional and showcase your talent to an appreciative audience.

 

Masterclass Details:

• Date & Time: 22 February 2025, 16:00 - 17:30

• Venue: St. Paul’s, Grove Park, 64 Grove Park Road, Chiswick W4 3SB

• Focus: Individual performance coaching on brass instruments

 

Eligibility:

We welcome applications from brass musicians grade 7/8 and above, aimed towards young players and students. Whether you play the trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba, or euphonium (or any other brass instrument!), we encourage you to apply!

 

How to apply:

You can audition either in person or by submitting a video audition. Here's how:

1. Live Auditions:

• Date: Saturday 15 February 2025

• Location: St Paul's Grove Park, Grove Park Road, Chiswick, W4 3SD

• Book audition slot: Sign up for your live audition slot by completing the Online Application Form

• Repertoire: Prepare a 3-5 minute performance of a piece (or excerpt from) showcasing your technical ability, tone, and musical expression.

•Accompanist: Accompanist shall be provided on both the day of the audition and masterclass.

•If performer is under 18: Complete Parental Consent Form  and return via email to chiswickbrassfestival@gmail.com or bring on the day of audition.

2. Prepare a Video Audition:

•  Repertoire: Submit a 3-5 minute performance of a piece (or excerpt from) showcasing your technical ability, tone, and musical expression.

• Format: Upload your video to YouTube (public or unlisted link). 

• Submit Application: Include the video link in the Online Application Form.

•If performer is under 18 and offered a slot in the masterclass: Complete the Parental Consent Form  and return via email to chiswickbrassfestival@gmail.com or bring printed on the day of the masterclass.

3. Complete the Application Form:

• Personal Information: Full name, contact details, and instrument

• Video Link: URL to your audition video

• Musical Background: Brief description of your experience and any relevant achievements

4. Submit Your Application:

• Ensure all information is accurate and complete before submission.

• Applications must be received by 15 February 2025 (contact us if you miss the date)

 

Selection Process:

Our panel will review all submissions and select participants based on musicality, technique, and overall performance quality. Selected individuals will be notified via email by 16th February 2025.

 

Preparation for Selected Participants:

• Repertoire: Same repertoire as audition repertoire (please let us know in advance if you would like to perform a different piece in the masterclass).

• Accompaniment: Accompanist shall be provided at the Masterclass.

• Arrival: Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the masterclass begins.

 

Audience Participation:

The masterclass is open to the public. We encourage fellow musicians, students, and enthusiasts to attend and gain insights from the session.
